My Adele day

I absolutely adore Adele! I love her look and how she has a signature style, so I wanted to recreate it a bit and see how it went. Pics of course::

It took me a while to get right but once I do perhaps I will post a step by step blog to get it.

Do I need this want: Practice test 1

Went to Walmart today and I was sorley tested. I saw a mascara there that I used many moons ago but has been unavailable for seriously like 10 years! I picked it up. I had it in my hand. Then I put it down. I have at least 5 mascaras at home. Score: 85%.. Perhaps a 90% because my wife said 'can I buy you a prize my love?'

As I we were waiting in line I drifted over and found a soft cotton turtleneck in grey, a color of choice for me. I bought it. I have been wanting one like that for a while. A classic piece that will stay in style, yet if I spill some thing on it I wont be too put out. Score: 45%. I bought it then occured to me I could have done with out it. Its the thought that counts right?

Alas, not too shabby for a trial run!

A month of "Do I need this want?"

So in honor of Christmas and of the excesses it brings I am going to be inflicting trying an experiement on myself. I want to go 30 days without purchasing any thing unless I absolutley need it. I have a history of buying things on a whim and some times I use them, some times I dont. I am a student and my wife is on unemployment. I need to change my spending habits and this is a good place to start. A cleanse of sorts.

The second part of this will involve exposing myself to shopping opprotunities. I am not going to just sit in my house for a month and say 'look at me! I saved money!'. That isn't fair to myself to think so little of my self control nor to the people bothering to read this. Although my self control leaves much to be desired...

The third part of this is going to be me putting whatever the dollar amount I would have spent into savings. So for example I go into Target and see a sweater I love. Normally I would himm n haww about it until I purchased it, perhaps feeling guilty for purchasing yet another sweater. But for one month I am going to write down the price tag and put that money I didn't spend on a sweater into savings.

It will start as of January 1st. Which means I need to get my coffee/resturant/clothes/makeup fix in now!! Right? Just kidding. Kind of. I will do my best to post every day about how its going.

More Questions than Answers.. Christmas edition!

This is the first in a series of posts called "More Questions than Answers" There are things/people/sitations that I see around me that leave me so confused. I will have so many questions and no answers and it is time that I share these things with the world. They need to be shared so I can find some one who can then either clarify matters or stew in a dense soup of confusion with me! Answers are encouraged.

I happened to be at a Goodwill in Tacoma, their 'holiday' store.. This is the first picture I took because I was just so baffled by it!

I added some captions for your viewing pleasure. I considered buying this just to figure out what the hell it was. It also has a little light up thing under it. So very confused!!!  Questions:: Who the hell made this? Why is it pee yellow? Why is the guy on the bench so scared? Why does that polar bear on the glass Santas shoulder look so wild and scary, yet is wearing a scarf? Is the little polar bear being held against its will?

The next picture I took is a Santa that I am sure was a mistake to make. He appears to be missing his lips and nose, which gives him a very creepy look. They havent broken off, the paint and finish was all intact. Questions: Who would make this? Why would they not add lips? Is this a voodoo doll of Santa? Why give it to Goodwill? Did they give it away because it was bad Christmas juju?

Can any one please clarify??

Questions: Since when do snowmen and creepy scarecrows play together on a haystack? Why is the scarecrow a vampire? Is trying to eat the snowmen? Is the snowman on top trying to make sweet luurrve to the pumpkin? Is that why the scarecrow is chasing the other one? Who mixes fall and winter seasons? If you are a snowman wouldnt wearing things that keep you warm such as hats, gloves, shoes and scarves make you melt? That scarecrow has alot of junk in the trunk huh? The only thing I know for sure is that this thing was a decoration reject!

Questions: Is it just me or are these things creepy? I think they are painted like those portraits where the eyes follow you. Is the third one from the left peeing from its buckle?

Questions: What the tree? Why? A puppet? It is motorized. I assume it sings? It would be better if it spewed anti-sematic remarks huh? Do you think this would be one of those things that sings and talks when it is not being played with? I do. I had a doll like that once and my brothers and sister were convinced it was possessed and killed it!! Maybe this tree and the creep-tastic Santa belong together?

This was there... So just because something has red and green on it together makes it Christmas right?? Im sure the child in a South American country that made this was hoping that it would bring holiday cheer. Felize Navidas, I think?

This little baby took the cake! For the low low price of $3.99 you can take this bad boy home! Putrid water included! I think this is a little nativity scene inside. The glitter makes it so festive inside! Seriously? Who put this on the shelf? If I gave them an old sandwich would they sell that too? Nothing says Christmas like a toxic snowglobe! Would Jesus appreciate the thought on this one?

Thoughts?

Have a very Merry Christmas! See you next time!

So I made this today, part 3

I found this little treasure at Michael's and I thought I have to make this into a pin!

Then all I had to do was glue a pin backing on to the back!

Fabulous right!

So I made this today part 2

I also made this headband! I call it Candy Ribbon.
Supplies: headband, 2 different kinds of ribbon, glue gun, glue sticks, paper plate. Paper plate is to put the glue gun on if you dont have a holder, which I dont because I am cheap!

Step one: Cover the headband like the one in the last post. Then pick your ribbons, I am using black and dove grey.

Step Two:

Cut your ribbons. I did about a foot. I left the black one a little longer to keep it interesting.

Step Three:

Line it up and put a bit of glue once you find a placement that you like, I did mine in the center.

Step Four:

Fold it over like this and glue it down on an angle like so

Step Five:

Fold it over again at a angle, once you find one that you like pinch it and then glue it down.

Step Six:

Keep on folding like so, glueing down any loose parts and get wider as you continue on

Then it will look like this.

Step Seven: Pick your favorite side then glue it to the headband

Step Eight:

Rock it!!!

So I made this today, Part 1

So I made this head band today, two actually. This is the step by step of how to make it for yourself. Your going to need a glue gun, glue, a paper plate, ribbon, feathers, felt, pearls and rhinestones, headband.

Step one:
Take a normal headband. This is a Christmas one, so I am def going to cover it!

Glue a little on the inside

Then I wrapped it around the outside, glueing here and there to keep it in place. Then finish around to the otherside.

Step Two:

Cut out a piece of felt in a shape that will work for you. I chose this trianglish shape.

Step Three:

Start attatching the feathers with the glue gun, make a row on the top for the longer feathers.

Like so

I also added some black feathers.

Step Four:

Then I started adding my other feathers, working my way down. I use the top part that is colorful and cut off the rest of the fluffy crap.

Step Five:

I worked them all the way down, added some rhinestones and pearls

Step Six:

Attatch to headband and rock it with pride!!

I also made this one::

I made it the same way, hopefully you make your own!!
